Spring Sessions

I'm excited that the days are longer, the weather is getting nicer (well, save for the snow that appears to be on Monday's forecast), and anticipating the array of spring blooms.

I plan to update my blog soon; the blog 'drought' has gone on far too long.

Hannah:: Langhorne, PA

I met Hannah in 2001. She was 10 years old. Today is her 22nd birthday. And she just graduated college on Friday. Time flies.

It's been an absolute joy watching her 'grow up'; I almost feel old saying that, but it's true. In a sense, she's like a younger sister to me, but she's also my friend and part of my family. There was a bit of an impromptu graduation party for Han last week...and I took some pics of Han and her family.

Congrats Han. I love you and can't wait to see what you'll accomplish in the next ten/twenty/thirty years....I'm so thankful to have you in my life. Happy Birthday! Happy graduation!! Love you....

Dr. Gupta:: Impacting India

I remember first hearing about Dr. Gupta after my friend went and spoke in India this past summer. She returned and talked about the work being done in India. Dr. Gupta came to the US about two weeks ago and is traveling around meeting people and sharing his vision. One of his stops was to meet some people at Cairn University. I had the opportunity to meet him and take his picture.

Dr. Gupta is the president and director of Hindustan Bible Institute and College in Chennai, India. They train and mobilize people to minister to the people of India.

It was a pleasure to meet Dr. Gupta; I hope one day to travel to his beautiful country and meet his people. 

Annie Get Your Gun:: Cairn University Spring Musical

This past week I had the opportunity to photograph Cairn University's spring musical - Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun. The directors and cast put on a fantastic show. The costumes were beautiful and ornate, fitting to the scenes and the characters. The scenery was minimal, but very effective. The singing, dancing, and character interaction was done so well, and with such infectious smiles. The leads were spot on, and the ensemble and supporting roles played an equally tremendous role in the entire production being a hit. Here are some images from the show...

Cairn University:: Student Teachers

In 2004, I graduated from college thinking I was going to be an English teacher. Little did I know that about a year following graduation I'd be working at my alma mater, in the department from which I graduated. Fast forward nine years and I am again working in the School of Education....nothing like coming full circle. My journey has been a whirlwind and there were some transitions along the way, but I am enjoying my job at Cairn University and working alongside the students in the School of Education.

Each semester we publish a prospective teacher brochure, and we include 'biographies' on the students who will graduate with their teaching certificates. It's a resource provided to hundreds of local schools, in hopes that they might be interested in hiring some of our students. Included with each of the bios is a picture of each of the student teachers. It made sense I'd take the pictures, and I had 15 minutes to introduce the brochure, have the students fill out their forms, and take their pictures. Did I mention there were approx. 20 of them? I was so pleased with how they turned out, and asked if I could share their photos with you.

May I introduce to you the next batch of future educators of America?!?

Walsh family:: Playwicki Farm

Tonight I had a session with the Walsh family. Their "reunion" celebrated many things -- birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations. I photographed Caleb a few months ago, and they invited me back to take pictures while family was in town for the weekend.

Amelia's brother is in the Army and just graduated from Basic Training. She wanted some pics of him in his uniform, and bought a onesie for Caleb to wear proudly for his uncle. Her parents and sisters were also in town, too, so they thought it a perfect time for a family session.

We had gorgeous weather - although a bit sticky - and it was wonderful to meet the rest of Amelia's family. Thanks, everyone, for spending a few hours with me. Hope you enjoy the rest of your family time together this weekend.
